To stream music data free you will need some data or MyCredit on your recharge. Only audio music streaming through the participating apps is data free, so keep in mind that song downloads, mobile and mobile broadband WiFi hotspots, video streaming and content, streaming via WiFi, streaming via an internet browser and non-music content like data analytics, album art and advertisements will use your data and is excluded from the offer. Streaming music through a third party apps, like Sonos, will also use your data, so just stick to streaming your favourite tunes through your mobile on the apps listed above.

If you run out of data before your recharge has expired, you can purchase a MyData Add On which will give you the data you need to access the participating music streaming apps until your full recharge expires. Once your recharge has expired, an Add On will not extend your recharge expiry or use of data free music streaming, and any music streaming will start to use data from your MyData Add On, so it’s worth noting that you can only stream music data free through a full recharge.

How long does the offer last?

You can stream music data free on the eligible plans via the participating music streaming apps right up until 16th July 2017.

Music to our ears!

Sort of feels like a kick in the face for PostPaid customers, especially contracted ones.. Smiley Indifferent

Totally agree, what is Optus doing for postpaid customers?

Being pedantic here but what's with the wording? How can you stream music without data? It's like having fat-free milk where the fat is thrown in free of charge?

*annoyed post-paying customer* 3 months to go.,,,

I've been using the free music streaming service for about a week now following receiving an SMS saying that it was activated on my service, but all the usage from my streaming is being counted against my quota in the Yes app.

I thought that the data was meant to be zero rated, i.e. appear in insights, but not be taken off my quota for the month.

Optus could you advise whether this is an error with the usage meter which is being looked into?

Hey weneedlumber, can I ask if you are streaming via a dedicated app or via the website? Which streaming service are you using?

Have genuine Spotify app installed. On a $30 prepaid ultimate plan. Ran Spotify for 45 minutes this morning. Now used up 75mb of data. Not unmetered?  Why?

I recently signed up to a month by month plan that includes this offer. It is for my mobile broadband only SIM. I share data across multiple SIMS. Is this offer shared across all of my shared data SIM plans? Or must the music streaming be done through the eligible SIM only?

Hey Adam_J, this offer applies only to that particular service and isn't shared to the other services unless you have it activated on that particular plan. Pete

Hey Pete,

Why is it that my streaming for music (Spotify) & movie (Netflix, SBS OnDemand) is still being counting as chargeable data?

I was informed by an Optus 'Customer Service rep', post-purchase, that my mobile broadband SIM, which is on the same plan as my mobile SIM, does not have free streaming. Why is that even allowed when I wasn't informed of this when I signed up & it's not noted on my CIS?

Please let me know.

Hey @Cheeky1, if we offered free Music streaming / Mobile TV streaming on your mobile broadband plan then it would be mentioned in the CIS. Since it is not included in your plan as confirmed as such it is not listed in the CIS. Check out this link for more info on free Music streaming and here on Mobile TV streaming.
