What is the nbnTM?
The nbnTM is an upgrade to Australia’s current telecommunications infrastructure. As part of the upgrade, the existing copper wire and hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) networks are being replaced by fibre-optic cable technology to give Australians a much faster, more reliable broadband service in the future. The government-owned company, nbn™, are building and managing the nbnTM rollout across Australia and we can help you connect to it.

What are the types of nbnTM?
There are a few different types of nbnTM you can get. We’ve listed them out below and provided a short explanation of how each is installed.
When it comes to installing nbnTM Cable (aka HFC cable - Hybrid Fibre Coaxial cable), nbnTM may need to install a cable lead-in and a PCD (Premises Cable Device) on the outside wall of your home. If you are an existing Optus cable customer, a technician may install a Network Termination Device (NTD), a wall-plate or a splitter inside your home.
nbnTM Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) provides internet to your home via fibre-optic cables that are either laid underground or via overhead lines. Most nbnTM Fibre connections will have a new fibre-optic cable that runs right up to your premises.
nbnTM Fibre to the Basement (FTTB) provides high-speed internet to your property by installing nbn technology in your building’s basement or communications cupboard. In most cases nbn engineers won’t need access inside your home to provide you with nbnTM FTTB internet.
nbnTM Fibre to the Node (FTTN) is set up by establishing a ‘node’ or nbnTM equipment box on your street. In most cases, nbnTM engineers won’t need access inside your home to provide you with nbnTM FTTN internet.
nbnTM Fixed Wireless
nbnTM Fixed Wireless delivers a more stable service than mobile broadband and to install it,a fibre-optic cable is connected to a local transmission tower and then a wireless signal is directed at an antenna fitted to the roof of your property.
