When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides information on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 29/03/2017. If no information is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices and once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, for example the manufacturers might make the update available for a small number of users (i.e. 5%) initially; then if no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll gradually be made available to more and more users over the following weeks.

Thanks Hollie for your suggestion to contact tech support on the mate 9 issue. I did contact them and i was directed to a near by store. In the store, I was given a phone and asked to talk to a technical support guy. He listened my issue and directed me to talk to Huawei directly as optus only ensures connectivity of your phone and doesnt deal with software issues. He directed the call to Huawei and no response came for 15 mins.........So i hung up the call and spoke to the customer executive in the store. He suggested me to talk to Huawei and get the issue sorted out and was giving examples of apple iphone issues being directed to the apple customer support. However, I agreed partially as logically it meant that I do not have a direct relationship with the manufacturer and was paying optus a monthly fee for the phone & "connectivity" including the service fees. So, I chose to give the phone back to optus, when I was promised that either the issue will be resolved or a new phone will arrive from Huawei within 2 weeks.

Hey @vnandi, Hollie is not in the office at the moment and I'm sorry to hear that you had to speak to so many different departments about this. So just confirming have you spoke to someone about returning your phone? If so, what did they say about that?

Hi Marcel, As per my previous comments, I already submitted my phone back to optus to get it repaired or replaced. But i am not sure, how it will be resolved as he said, he will revert back in 2 weeks which is a long time. Are you saying the mate 9 replacement for a new model (company) or the same one?

@Missrippa

I believe the updates (for S6, I'm assuming it is the same schedule the Edge) have begun rolling out in batches. So hopefully more S6 and S6 Edges will be receivng the updates soon.

@LilHoo thanks . Will that include the edge plus or just the edge? Hopefully the update will fix my phone after the last security patch - makes my battery overheat and not hold charge and my phone freezes all the time now

@Missrippa

The updates should apply to the larger device as well since the update has nothing to do with how big a device is. Also, there have been a couple of users who received the Android Nougat update (for S6) complaining about battery issues (eg. draining fast) so it would be wise to research thoroughly Smiley Happy
