When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 26/01/2016. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

My Galaxy Note 3 updated yesterday to 5.0

Thanks very much. Looks great but battery life has changed to the phone fully draining within 6 hours. I look forward to the 5.0.1 update which according to samsung fixes this issue.

@ibslice I'd recommend performing a factory reset after updating to resolve any issues. Also take a look at your battery statistics to determine why your battery is draining so fast. The next update could take quite a while to reach your device considering 5.0 was released approx. October/November 2014.

Androis System & Androis OS are using the majority.

I was really not keen to do a factory reset due to having 2 years of information in the phone I'd like to keep and access. I understand it was released over 1 year ago. I do hope updates could be a little faster. 5.0.1 was mainly a bugfix update for 5.0 so it should be fairly minor for you to add it.

Can you please share would the next upgrade be available for Samsung S5 (upgrade after 5.0)?

Hi, the latest update for the Huawei Ascend P7 isn't working properly. I'm getting the "Package Checksum Error". I've tried factoring resetting the device and still unable to install the update. Can the software engineers/developers have a look at this?

Android 6 Marshmallow update has been available for over 6 months on the international version of the LG G4 815

When will Optus be releasing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the LG G4 815T??? Why do we have wait so long for Optus to release these Android updates when these have been released already months ago by LG

@bashi As soon as we have information, we add it to our blog posts so when we have info on the S5, we'll do the same 🙂

@davidn You'd be best giving us a call on 133937 or heading in store for them to have a look. Alternatively, you may like to contact Huawei directly. Manufacturers are responsible for modifying and distributing the updates so they could be your best point of call

@lanems We test updates as soon as we receive them from the manufacturer. Whilst an international version may have been released by LG themselves, we haven't received an update to test from them. You can read about the testing process here where you'll find that we aren't responsible for releasing the updates, just testing them to make sure they're compatible with our network.

@MattJ I've noticed that Telstra is testing the LG G4 Marshmallow update (also the G3).  Are you saying that LG has released it to Telstra and not Optus?

Telstra seems to be well advanced providing its customers using LG G4 and LG3 Smartphones with the latest version of the Android OS as per their crowdsourcing blog

LG G3 Android Marshmallow 6 Platform update Scheduling 15-Feb-16
LG G4 Android Marshmallow 6 (V20b-505-01) Platform update Scheduling 22-Feb-16
This is the Android Marshmallow 6 update. It also implements security fixes as described in: CVE-2015-6636, CVE-2015-6617, CVE-2015-6637, CVE-2015-6638, CVE-2015-6639, CVE-2015-6640, CVE-2015-6641, CVE-2015-6642, CVE-2015-6643, CVE-2015-5310, CVE-2015-6644, CVE-2015-6645, CVE-2015-6646

Would be great if Optus can provide its customers using the LG G4 and LG G3 Smartphones with the latest version of the Android OS 6

Just wondering if the Galaxy Note 3 Android update 5.0 is being rollout in stages coz I've been been checking my phone everyday for the past week and there's no update.  I have a Note 3 SM-N9005 which I acquired from Vodafone a couple of years ago.

Hi just wondering when the note 4 will be getting Android 6?

6.0 on Samsung GS6?

Hey BenjiCantor I believe Optus sold both variants SM-N9005 and N9007.  Have a friend whom got his N9005 from Optus and he received Lollipop 5.0 update last week.

Would be great if an Optus Rep can confirm :).

@tranny We did sell 2 variants of the Note 3, you're right 🙂 Unfortunately in your case though, the update won't be approved by us. As your handset was initially from another carrier, we play no part in the updates process for it.
