Latest Android updates

When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device. The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country. Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides information on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of the 21/03/2019. If no information is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved. Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices and once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, for example the manufacturers might make the update available for a small number of users (i.e. 5%) initially; then if no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll gradually be made available to more and more users over the following weeks.

Definetly coming out in batches. I have 2 workmates on M20's and they just checked and no update, so dont stress if you don't see it. Suspect everyone will get it over the next few days/week.

@garvaniii

The update should still include all of the previous updates that came before it.

@garvaniii I can't remember did you custom load an update or did you wait?

@Millinnium did you do a custom update previously?

@SteveV no I did not

@SteveV are you concerned that loading custom firmware means you won't get Optus update? Because I am! After I loaded 210 my phone found a 210 update (not sure what the difference was), but let's face it, Optus didn't release a 210 update. I will post if I get the new 212 update, otherwise will just continue to update myself using @Xalies method. If anyone who has sideloaded or whatever an update AND gets the Optus 212 update, please post!!

@garvaniii yeah I still don't have M20P update yet. Hope it arrives soon.

I'm on the 206 system update as of last week and it works beautifully. I did receive the Optus patch yesterday which I'm fairly sure just added the wifi calling. It seems like the system software remains in your own hands via Xalies method but carrier patches still come in OTA .

Just got this https//photos.app.goo.gl/6pSXxcLNDsmTw3PJ6

I was on 178 (prior to that)

Seems like they only updated cust and preload files.

Not even sure if I should press update.

Maybe cut and paste into browser window ... although i'm confused. You're already on .178? Did you custom install that yourself @OlegA ?

Yeah I did, my journey was (if I remember correctly)

I wonder if the update means that it's in place of 212?

Too complicated. 😏

Wow, @OlegA , that is a journey. Did you take a packed lunch and a compass? I remember after I updated to .210, I also received an update to .210. I thought it was weird but accepted the update anyway. Now @Xalies method doesn't work for me. And I haven't received the Optus .212 update yet either.

I should point out that when I connect to HiSuite (the normal way), and go to update, it says i'm using the latest firmware for my device (which can't be right) ... so that's weird...

@garvanii what network are you using in your M20.  I see you have VoLTE.

SteveV
by Contributor SteveV
‎2019-03-27 10:13 AM

@Victrix VoLTE has been there since launch on m20p. Quite possibly if you don't have it there's an account setting not ticked by provider.

I'm not sure that vowifi is going to last long with me, cube acr call recorder and vowifi are giving each other indigestion. They don't like each other.

Finally got the .212 update. Phone is much faster, photos better and face/fingerprint more accurate after relearn.

Now can you please keep providing regular Mate 20 Pro updates @Optus ?
