Android Software Updates - 19/07/2018

When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device. The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country. Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides information on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of the  19/07/2018. If no information is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices and once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, for example the manufacturers might make the update available for a small number of users (i.e. 5%) initially; then if no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll gradually be made available to more and more users over the following weeks.

Two things: First S7 and S7 edge still show 7.0, but are on 8.0 now. Second, when can we expect the S7 edge erg2 update?

Not HTC U11 yet. Sigh... I do email HTC

"We could definitely feel that you have genuine interest in finding out when would the latest update be. Rest assured
that we are more than willing to guide you on this one accordingly.

We first need to set your expectations on this matter. Updates for Android are being rolled out by the developer of
Android which is Google. It's their job to roll out these update to all phone manufacturers like HTC. That is the
time for each manufacturer to add their personalized user interface (UI) to the stock software provided by Google.

Based on the IMEI number of your device, this is a carrier-specific phone assigned to Optus. Carrier phones would
get the most delay in updates since aside from the personalized UI, there would also be a customization of the
carrier for the software.

As of this moment, we do not have a current time table on when would the updates roll out"

At least they reply, I think Optus are pretty fast with turnaround updates. I will continue to wait :).

I was wondering if there's any news in regards to the new firmware for the Huawei Mate 10 Pro (BLA-09)?

Just saw my missus phone whom she bought from JB HiFi recently recieved an update for Face Unlock & camera improvements (Night Shot without tripod).

Just had a quick Google and it seems like a lot of other people are already recieving updates or already have the update from a month or so ago.

So I hope this update comes to the Huawei Mate 10 Pro Optus devices soon. Smiley Happy

Hi When do we expect the galaxy a8 2018 to get the oreo update ? Because the same model overseas has oreo update already it seems be stable. Is there date when we optus will start testing and trialling it ?

I've had a read up on a couple of articles that have come out in the past week.

The update is available in the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland. It looks like it's also been recently rolled out in India and UAE.

We haven't received the update from Samsung yet. As soon as we start testing, we'll let you know.

What about mate 10 pro latest update? Other regions received .145 update with handheld night shot. And optus still on 134 update. It is annoying. When we buy a phone from optus we expect more.
