Android Software Updates.pngWhen a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 16/09/2016. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

I also have a Nexus 6P. I just checked for a system update and it says that my phone is up to date with version 6.0.1. Yet by your documentation, it states that the current Android version of my device is 7.0. Can you please explain why my device is not receiving the update?

Hey @Maxsurf73 and @msd! The update hasn't been completed yet, when this happens you'll see the information in the 'Next Version & Latest Information' column - Hannah

@Hannah-L It is in the current column. If i cant get it on my phone how is it current?

For example does the S7 Edge have 6.0.1. Yes. Because it is "current".

Either you are wrong, or your documentation is wrong.

My apologies @msd, I just called through to our engineering team and they advised we haven't received the build from the manufacturer yet. Hopefully we'll have some news for you next week.

@Hannah-L Current version for Nexus 6P is 6.0.1 not 7.0 so why are we seeing current version 7.0 ? This is just confusing people and i see Vodafone has already been rolling out the 7.0 update to Nexus 6P devices.....

Why does the Xperia Z2 still say 5?

I received an email from Sony last week; connected my phone via PC Companion & updated to Marshmallow.

If I was to wait for an OTA update I would never get it!

Ever since I downloaded the August security update for the S6 edge, my phone is being unstable. Battery overheats, quick charge function no longer works (have tested three chargers), capacitive back button rarely works and is acting like the recent tabs button on the left hand side.

Is anybody else experiencing issues since the last update? I have cleared all cache and tried other fixes as per Android forums online but nothing has worked.

Hey @Marie,

Thanks for your follow up regrading Galaxy Tab A 9.7 4G LTE (SM-P555) dated 05/09/16, but there is still no entry for the device in the current update. Is there an issue

Thanks, Will

Hi Pommster, normally any updates we receive will be communicated to users in this or future blog posts. If it's not listed here, then we'll hopefully receive it for testing soon.
