Android Software Updates 15/08/2017

When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device. The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country. Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides information on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 15/08/2017. If no information is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices and once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, for example the manufacturers might make the update available for a small number of users (i.e. 5%) initially; then if no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll gradually be made available to more and more users over the following weeks.

Got July security and Daydream compatibility update on my S8 last week. Is this another update, or the same update?

Problem - My Optus S8 updated today with latest 1 July 2017 patch, XXU1AQG7. I am now getting duplicate sms from anyone messaging me..? I send an sms and the response comes back twice... Also, sending sms outbound seems slow, as in takes 10 seconds to process / send. I have restarted the phone already a few times, no change. Please advise.

@Correspondent, try clearing the cache partition on the phone. Take a look at this web site for instructions.

N.B. The green Android logo mentioned in step 3 was a white logo on a blue screen for me.

@Optus as per the last 3 states (sad episodes) of this update the Xperia Z5 is still waiting for the last 2 versions. I called Sony and discussed the mater and the wait is WITH YOU not them as you continue to say. Please try a little bit harder?

Hello Optus & fellow Optus customers,

I held back from upgrading my HTC One M9 to Nougat 7.0 but decided to make the jump yesterday. After initiating the software update over WiFi, the phone displayed a message that Software Update: 4.23.710.1 (1.38GB) was available for download\installation.

Prior to initiating the upgrade process, I made sure that the phone was fully charged and connected to a powered USB port on my notebook. I also have 8GB spare on the phone's storage with a 64GB memory card installed on the phone.

In spite of the above, the phone has failed to upgrade and stalls at the 25% mark for a couple of minutes before restarting itself with the original Marshmallow 6.0 operating system and my original apps.

Based on the above, I have the following questions:

1. Do I need to follow a different process to upgrade my HTC One M9 phone to Nougat 7.0?

2. Aside from ensuring there is enough storage and the phone is connected to a power source, are there other pre-requisites I need to satisfy in order to upgrade to Nougat 7.0?

3. Aside from v4.23.710.1, are there any later upgrades I should be considering and where should I obtain them from?

Thanks a bunch.

@Jack_gecko May I ask where did you get information about 32.4.A.0.160 from? I have a Z5 Premium with 32.3.A.2.33, and yesterday I checked with Sony they said my phone is up-to-date?

You can check it here with your IMEI: http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/
