Android Software Updates.pngWhen a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 14/06/2016. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

Hi,

It says that the 6.0.1 update is completed for the HTC Desire 820, but my settings says my phone is up to date (on 5.0.2). Is there a delay until it is available to update via OTA?

What about an update for the Galaxy S5? It's been stuck on Android 5 for months - even the S4 is at 5.0.1.

S6 shows 6.0 but I updated early May to 6.0.1 is this just a typo in the list?

Second to Z3's comment above - Telstra also seem like they're going to release the update may be next month for the Z3 - I wonder how come it's coming so slowly to Optus? Smiley Sad

I updated software on Samsung Galaxy 6 yesterday.  Now I can't tether to my laptop.  I have connection but the websites won't pull up. Message is "this site can't be  reached. (Name of site) took too long to respond"  Never had this problem before.

Hi @zinusmero updates are rolled out progressively by HTC so you should see it come through over the coming weeks.

@johnjinsf@Z3@ra3jae No news yet on these phones, as soon as we confirm testing we'll let everyone know on these updates.

@rainaMac Are you still experiencing issues with tethering?

@Andy  thank you....I seem to be ok for tethering now, other than the fact it seems to be really slow. I had my tech check it out...he had to reset the tethering.  He also upgraded me to windows 10......is it windows 10 that is making things so slow?

Hey there, I've got a weird request. I've flashed my imported S7 with Optus software (and VoLTE works great), but when I turn the phone on and off, I have the Optus welcome and goodbye screen with that little yellow guy. I don't mind it, in fact I love it, but when I turn the phone off he has no arms and it's freaking me out. Could you give him some arms in the next OTA?

@rainaMac Great to hear tethering is working again, I'm not too sure about the Windows 10 upgrade as it may depend on the machine you're currently running and software/programs you have installed.

@danz207 Hey you're right that's a pretty weird request! I think the little dude just has his hands behind his back? Don't ask me where the shoulders are though...

updated to 6.0.1 this morining on my Galaxy Note 4.  Since 9am (it's now nearly 6pm) the charging has progressed from 61% to 69%.

This is not a good thing - it used to be able to charge from near-empty to full in a couple of hours.
