When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device. The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country. Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides information on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 10/01/2018. If no information is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices and once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, for example the manufacturers might make the update available for a small number of users (i.e. 5%) initially; then if no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll gradually be made available to more and more users over the following weeks.

Anyone else experiencing issues with picture messages after Oreo update on the HTC U11; I have to retry to send the messages multiple times and then eventually it does send, if receiving, have tried automatically and doesn't download and manual attempts states can't be downloaded from server ... But if I try forcing it to download, after multiple attempts it then does work.

@arozawa, our bi weekly update hasn't featured the P9 in a while. We'll have a new blog up in the coming days; hopefully we'll have received some further information in regards to an expected release date of 8.0 for the Huawei P9 handset. In the meantime, we'll ensure that we update our current list.

I'm trying to update my HTC U11. When I force Software Update I get an Error message:

"There was an unexpected error and the file system may be corrupted.

Please contact HTC Support for further assistance".

I contacted them but they could not help.

HELP! Please....

P.S. I don't think any file has been downloaded to my phone.

@JezMobile this sounds like a hardware fault so I'm surprised HTC were unable to assist. My only advice would be to back up and restore to try the update again.

I'm back again. HTC have advised me that my phone software has been "modified". I have done nothing to the phone at all. Is it possible that at some time over Christmas (when I was totally away from WiFi) that the New Oreo Update tried to download to my phone and only partly succeeded? It was at that time that I received the message in my previous post.... "the file may be corrupted. Please contact HTC SUPPORT for further help"... It was only at that time that I became aware of the new software update to Oreo - by googling it.

I was really upset with HTC Support for implying I had tampered with my phone.

Please Help!!!

Hmm, when you boot your phone in recovery mode, the boot up screen displays the below message?

Software modified

***LOCKED***
***S-ON***
***Security Warning***

HTC have then advised, that due to the software modification, your warranty is now void?

I'd really suggest backing up all your data and doing a full factory reset. Boot up the handset in recovery mode and see if you're still being prompted with the "modified prompt."

Folks, I am confused. I am running a Mate 9 and it's still on Emui 5!!!

I see here that 8 is due soon but mine shows no updates as being available even for 7 so anyone who can help me figure out why I am so far behind will make me very happy.

You'd have to still be running on Android 7.0 with EMUI 5. Huawei deployed 7.0 with EMUI 5 last year.

We're currently in the testing phase for Android 8.0 + Huawei EMUI 8.0.

Thanks for setting me straight there Dan. My mind is running on Sunday time and I am mixing up EMUI and Android versions.

And to think, I write software better than I cogitate!!!.

All these hot days have fried the neurons.

Ah, that's okay! I'm based in Melbourne and we've finally had a bit of relief from the heat! I'm sure you're aware of how it all works but for any lurkers out there; Android is deployed in the following way:

Android Stock Build → Device manufacturer build → Carrier customised build → Carrier customised build is sent back to the manufacturer for deployment over the air.

It's more of a lengthier process then one might think.
