When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 08/02/2016. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

@lanems @thesoxman Information on the G4 is above. I've requested more info on the G3 as there's been some conflicting reports.

Great to see that Optus is now proactively working on testing the Adroid OS 6 update for LG G4
All of Optus Customers using the LG G4 will be really appreciative if we can use the latest version Android OS 6.0 etc by sometime later in February 2016

Will these lists include updates for the Priv by BlackBerry which is running Android?

@Clancy10 I'll confirm for you mate. As long as the process doesn't differ from other Android handsets (i.e. we test it against the network) then we'll have the same info and post it up. Let me get back to you though

@Clancy10 confirmed, we'll provide information via these updates for the Blackberry Priv as well 🙂

Hi just wondering when we might see marshmallow for the s6 thx ☺

Forums Community Manager

@azzarock1 we aren't responsible for releasing updates for Android updates, we just test updates against our network when they're released to us from the manufacturer. You can read more about the process here. So with that in mind, you might want to contact Samsung and ask 🙂

Samsung have now released marshmallow for s6 any idea based on past experience how long before you receive it for testing

@azzarock1 you can check out when different updates have been released by different carriers here:

It's pretty random but they rarely all come out together but instead dribble out over a month or more. As this is more of event update this could be an exception but who knows.

I have an LG manufactured Nexus 5 smartphone with android version 6.01 which is not listed above.  Would the fact that it's not listed explain why I can't get the Optus Cricket App to work?  For info, the My Optus app is working.

Hey kpgdura - do you receive a specific error when trying to use the app? Does it download okay?
