Latest Android updates

When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device. The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country. Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides information on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of the 07/11/2018. If no information is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices and once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, for example the manufacturers might make the update available for a small number of users (i.e. 5%) initially; then if no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll gradually be made available to more and more users over the following weeks.

Since I bought TAB S4 I have not received any a monthly update yet. Is there a monthly update for TS4?

Wondering when and if the tab s4 will be included in this list

@Jamallandit, I was hoping we'd have received an update by now.

At the beginning of the week, we receive a report of upcoming software releases.

As soon as we receive an update from the manufacturer - in this case Samsung, we begin the testing process.

We're usually made aware of a software release roughly a month or so before the rollout date.

I'll ask the testing team if they've received anything for the TAB S4, but I'm certain they'd have already made us aware.

Any reason Mate 20 Pro isn't in the device updates list?

We tend to add new devices as we receive new updates.

As soon as we receive a new software release or security patch for the Mate 20 Pro - I'll be sure to add the handset to the list.

I see a few people asking about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. Considering purchasing through Optus, but just like to verify if the ROM is modified by Optus and if that means I will need to get updates through Optus as opposed to direct from Samsung? Also, I see that there is no Tab S3 in the list. Does that mean Optus never sold the Tab S3, never issued an update or the Tab S3 was updated direct from Samsung?

Since the last software update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 all notifications are delayed (Multiple applications Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram and Microsoft Exchange Mail while the screen is off, This problem has been reported all over the internet , I've since had my SIM card replaced and had no Note 9 replaced by Optus twice and the problem lies within the software or notification push service.

Do you have any other reported issues like this?

Hi @  anthony - Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Since the update we haven't received any reports of this yet  but if this continue to happen then please try doing a factory reset and then update the software again. Please make sure to save your data before. Let us know if this helps.

Hi @Dan_C, Are you able to confirm if the Samsung Tab S4 will go through the Optus Android software release cycle, or if we will get updates direct from Samsung?

@SamyNote2, I'll double check with the team.
I've always been under the impression that carrier releases are on a separate release schedule (always after the stock update). Another user mentioned that the TAB S4 hasn't received any updates in AUS (carrier or stock).
I'm happy to confirm.

@Aman_B if you've updated the software then a factory reset. The firmware and version remain the same so there will not be another update required.

Hello, could you please let me know whether there are any plans to test the Oreo update for the LG G5?

A number of variants of the phone have already received the update including the international H850 version in early October 2018.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Nothing on the G5. When was the last time you received an update from us, be it a security patch or new Android OS update?
