When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 07/09/2015. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

I see that stagefright code has now gone public greatly increasing the odds that attacks will be made, I hope galaxy s6 fix (among others) is coming ASAP...

When will S6 get updates for Stagefright fix and cannot miss this SAMSUNGPAY.

Most of the countries are having beta test or already have full service for Samsung pay. I want to knok when will it be possible for Australia. Also, assuming that Australia get updates slower than Korea and America S6 will get 6.0 on May or later

@junw Samsung Pay is not available in Australia.

@danz207 U mean like forever? Or u mean it is not available yet in Australia?

@junw Not yet, probably not for a while (if at all). I know with the Commonwealth Bank and NAB you can use the app and your phones NFC to do the exact same thing, try your banks app.

@danz207 Thanks for your re-comment again but the problem is I don't really need mobile pay solution using NFC. I know Australia has pay machines using NFC but I usually use my card where it doesn't have NFC reader, that's the reason I was looking Samsung pay as it support MST it is more practical or useful than banking apps and cash by Optus for me. It will be sad if Samsung pay is not available in Australia. Thank you for your comment again and have a nice day 🙂

Even sadder they didn't include it on the note 4

@Anokin I don't believe the Note 4 has the technology to communicate with MST readers, only NFC.

Still no update scheduled for Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.7? Really? Update has been out in other regions for months. Last time I'm ever buying an android device through Optus... Not a single update in a year for a flagship Samsung tablet is ridiculous

@AndyIs there any updates to the stagefright update coming out. I last asked about almost 3 weeks ago and back then it was a 2 week wait. Like I said its been almost 3 weeks now and no update available.

@danz207 I know that, I meant it's sad Samsung didn't include the extra tech as they knew at that time they were going to release Samsung pay. They already included mo-beam tech into it which wasn't available on any other phone, why not make it compatible with Samsung pay too.

@Andy Any further information on Stagefright?

You guys made no mention of HTC ONE M8 stagefright update, it happened without any info from you.

Will you be advising us on likely risks, mitigation and timeframe for a proper fix for Samsung particularly Note4?

My generic Samsung TAB A updated today.

Hey @Wassim_1 & @rc211e we haven't received new info yet from our device team on Stagefright, as soon we get any news we'll provide it in these updates. I'm checking with them on the M8 update so should have more details when our next post goes up on Monday!  For some advice on reducing the risks you can check out Matt's post here.

@Andy - I am not sure if this is the cause, but my phone seems to go to a black screen a couple of times a day. I am not sure if its the stagefright issue or somehting else. What do you advise I should do?

@Wassim_1 Had a look into this and doesn't sound like that would be causing your issue. How long has it been happening for and does it occur mainly when you're doing a certain function or in a specific app?

@Andy - it happens at anytime of the day and the phone is generally locked and its when i try and unlock the phone. But that is one way and there is no consistancy on when it happens.

Thanks for the info @Wassim_1, suggest trying a backup and restore first if you haven't already to see if that helps sort out the issue. If you're still experiencing the problem it'd be best to get in touch with our tech team on 131344 to troubleshoot further to confirm if your phone needs to be sent for assessment.
