When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 06/10/2015. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge - and my son has an S5. In your table it says that my Note Edge should be at 5.0.1 ... and my son's S5 should be at 5 - however both of our phones received updates to 5.1.1 over the last few days. Is the table just meant as a guide (and is not totally up to date) - or do we have updates we are not meant to have?

Cheers,
Scott

I have a HTC M9 .......a few weeks ago I received the stagefright update 2.9.710.4 69 mb worth FOTA.

It has failed each time i try. I have cleared the data from both my updater and downloader apps.

I have factory reset my phone as reccomended by HTC Australia and retried without success.

HTC Australia even told me that I was running illegitimate software and laughably diagnosed this from my IMEI number.

Please I'm just sick of being prompted by this update and having an Icon on my system tray.

Any Ideas ?

I am running version 2.9.710.2 as legitimatly supplied by your last FOTA update

I have a samsung galaxy s5 and in the updates it says that there is a fix completed for stagefright, but when I go to update it on my phone it says update is current, my question is when is it available or is there something I have to do with the phone. Can someone help me with this.

Thanks,

Galaxy Note 45.1.1 Completed

It's been a week now and so far so good. I don't want to jinx myself but my impressions are smoother faster and better battery life. No freezes so far! Stagefright fix tests out OK too!

Optus, I was skeptical when you said early October but you delivered on time. Thanks I gave you kudos in the other thread.

Looks like all Optus Samsung Lollipop devices are now on 5.1.1 hopefully in readiness for Marshmallow

5.1.1 has broken the Gear VR. Keep getting network error when trying to launch software. I read it's a common issue and needs a fix by Samsung.. Any eta on this please?

Bit concerning that s6 still hasn't received a stage fright fix as my phone is still vulnerable.

Optus can you let me know if sony has gone past you on the 5.1.1 update as I have it installed but your table didn't say anything about it, I also ran one of those stagefright checker apps and there's one error CVE 2015-6602?
