When a new Android Operating System update is announced by Google there are a few steps that take place before it becomes ready for your device.  The manufacturer receives the update and customises the software for the device and mobile carriers in each country.  Once this is completed they’ll send the update to the carriers for testing.

For more info on this process check out our page:

Android Device Updates - What's The Process?

The below table provides info on the latest Android updates we’ve received for testing and approval as of 02/05/2016. If no info is listed, it means we haven't received the build or any new details from the manufacturer.

When a version is marked as completed it means testing has been finished on our end and approved.  Each manufacturer has a process for releasing updates to devices & once we approve the update, it’s sent back to the manufacturer to be released through their standard update processes. Generally, updates are rolled out progressively, where it’s made available for a small number of users (5% for example) initially. If no unforeseen problems pop up, it’ll be gradually made available to more & more users over a period of a couple of weeks.

Will we see BlackBerry PRIV updates on this list? Marshmallow was announced last week to be rolled out from the 3rd with carriers.

When will the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update be coming for the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact? It has been released (although not sure if an update will be coming that retains Stamina mode).

@coggibird, it doesn't look like that many places have Android 6 for the variant of the Note 4 that Optus uses:

Hoping to get some info about the Blackberry Priv update to Marshmallow too. It'd be handy if Optus listed the Priv as a handset on the update schedule in future also.

@DarkLord @Dean0506 Apologies the priv was left off. Good news though, we tested Android version 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) and approved it so it's waiting for Blackberry to distribute

@corsair We haven't received the update to test yet sorry. If/When we do, we'll update the table above.

@coggibird As with the Xperia Z3 Compact, we haven't received the update to test yet. If/When we do, we'll update accordingly

@whipflash191 I hear what you're saying, I'm actually a Note 4 user myself. Please understand that we only test the updates provided to us by Samsung so we can't do anything until we receive it. As soon as we get it, we get it tested and approved as soon as we can.

@Grub Thanks mate, I'll update the table.

@MattJ i fully understand your process behind it but that doesn't make me any less ticked off by the random freezes and crashes with no news of marshmallow

So the marshmellow firmware update for the S5 has been released to the AsiaPac (India) region in late April, can Optus possibly ask that they recieve the update for testing immediately, rather than waiting for it!! The release is for the same S5 model distributed by Optus...

Have just received and installed 6.0.1 for my Galaxy S6 edge (thanks to the 18GB data allowance was able to do it on the move rather than wait until getting home to use wi-fi)... looking forward to try out the features over the weekend... better late than never... cheers

Just updated my S6,, all went smooth. A question though, Wifi stability? I run a 3rd party app (zooper) which is showing my connection jumping in and out of connection. BTW only started from the update.

You've just released a maintenance update for S7 Edge, that would have been in testing for weeks. Still the list has nothing about the S7/S7Edge.

Why is this?

Day 1 S6 bugs:

Roughly every minute, Wi-Fi disconnects and the Wi-Fi settings page shows 'Internet not available' next to my Wi-Fi network. Pressing '(my network)>Connect' fixes it immediately, for about a minute. Didn't happen on Lollipop.

AM/PM, day and date aren't vertially aligned with the time:

@jaxon @aaronlee Sounds like you're having similar problems re WiFi. I'll have the team pass the feedback onto Samsung.

@jason2 is your new software Galaxy S7 Edge Baseband: G935FXXU1APDN by any chance? If so, there was no change to the software version but it was sent out to allow for VoLTE which we've just announced today. For more info, please take a look here - https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/custom/page/page-id/tp2/VoLTE-support

We hadn't announced specifics around when VoLTE was coming which is why it was missing from the table.

Thanks for the reply MattJ

It was more than just a baseband component update actually, the software (PDA) was also updated to APDN.

The old firmware was PDA version APAW, the new one is PDA version APDN. Same goes for the basebands.

@jason2 ok no worries. I'll have a chat to the software testing team and find out how that one got through the cracks. Thanks for the heads up and if you're in an area where VoLTE works, let us know how it goes Smiley Happy

Hello!

Has there been any update to the latest update to the HTC One M9.  This is getting ridiculous that HTC say that their top tier phones will get it within 90 days of its release.

Cheers mate, appreciate you getting back to us. Now I'm back at work, it's the same there too, so at least it puts me at rest about my home wifi anyway.

@HOLHQ Sorry no info has come through to us from HTC at this stage.

@jaxon good/bad to hear. Hopefully there's a patch soon!

Hi @MattJ, so I have an international Galaxy S7 that I flashed with Australian software (so that it'd be identical to Australian retail), why can't that access the VoLTE service? Is there plans to eventually enable it for retail units or will I have to reset my device and flash Optus software?

Getting really  impatient now for Samsung galaxy note 4 6.0 marshmallow update.  Pretty much all around the world are getting the update. What's happening with samsung Australia or is it optus slacking?

The telecommunications service provider in Australia should take  accountability for timely software updates and take it seriously or allow users to customize rom without voiding warranty!

MattJ

@danz207 At this stage, VoLTE is enabled based on what we call the mobile TAC code which is linked to the IMEI. This is why it's only available on handsets bought from Optus. Given that the devices IMEI along with the software installed on it plays a part in the availability of VoLTE, I'm not confident that flashing Optus firmware will get the result you're after. I don't have an answer on if we'll be making it available to retail at this stage but we'll certainly be expanding the number of devices it's available on.

@Ravisinghg We haven't received the update from Samsung to test yet sorry. We're generally pretty quick with the testing so as soon as we do, it's generally only a few weeks before we approve it for manufacturers to distribute.

@MattJ Oh alright then, thanks for the clarification, I didn't know that.

So since iPhones don't have carrier specific software, will they also be using TAC codes to enable VoLTE later this year?

Also, if you could, please pass onto the engineering team that there is definitely an interest in VoLTE on non-Optus purchased handsets Smiley Happy

@danz207 Not sure about iPhones yet. More info will be available when we enabled VoLTE for them as well but definitely happy to pass you feedback on Smiley Happy

@MattJ can you confirm whether or not Optus has recieved Marshmellow 6.0 (6.0.1) for Samsung S5? It's been distributed to other AsiaPac regions for the SM-G900l. Thanks
