SOS only (No SIM) on new phone

Hello,

 

I upgraded my mobile today from an iphone 5 to an iphone 8. I have put the sim card in from my iphone 5 and it keeps saying SOS only or no SIM.

 

I dont have the option in the Settings under "Mobile" to access the menu to make any changes, it just says "No SIM"

 

I have taken the sim card out and put it back in again a couple of times, turned the phone off and on and the updates are current. Can anyone please help me fugure out what is wrong?

They didn't setup a new sim by chance did they? Does it still work in your 5?

Thanks for your reply. It isnt working with my old iphone 5 either...

 

Nothing was said about a new sim when i was in the optus shop...

Hmm I suspect the sim has been deactivated if it wont work in your 5. Have a word with support on the live chat below to see if that is the case.
