I have 1) an iPhone 6 & 2) an unused Optus Broadband Modem with a pre-paid sim.
If i simply wish to use the broadband capability (i.e. no calls) of the iPhone, can i use the Broadband sim in the phone?
Why? I use the phone specifically for flying my drone which works fine without the sim but i don't get map updates due to no data connection. No big deal, but it would be handy if it worked and it is not worth buying a telephone sim just for this purpose.
Thanks in advance,

You can try changing the APN for you to be able to use the broadband simcard inside your iPhone. The default APN for mobile is yesinternet and the default APN for mobile broadband is connectme.
We can change the APN by going to Settings, then Mobile or Cellular, then Mobile data options, then Cellular data network. Once you change it to connectme, we just need to press the back arrow to Save.
Hope it helps.
