Pretty much if you want updates as soon as they are out either go apple or native android e.g. pixel.
This way its not waiting for carrier testing and approval.
Security patches are updates to the OS.....
Just received my July Samsung update only a few days into August so cant complain about that.
Samsung seems to think they are one in the same (even title of this thread does too)
"Software update available" is the heading of the Software update function on Samsung Devices.
Version: Has the version numbers
Security oatch level: 1 July 2019
The security of your device has been improved.
Right, so you can call it what you want, vendors/manufacturers call it an update - I think we will stick to what they call it.
It's bundled up as an update because there's no download latest patch option.
But it's not an update it's a patch and it's got to be installed for security reasons and therefore does not require carrier testing. This should be released immediately not two months behind.
Its not 2 months behind. Just because your security patch says 1st of June doesnt mean it was released on the 1st. The July patch/update was only released a week ago. And the August patch/update wont be out til the end of this month.
And i agree, patch and update in this instance mean the same thing, as Samsung release them as one bundle.
